About Me
About
My name is Emily McDonald
Hello! My name is Emily, and I have a passion for writing. Let me introduce myself and my work to you and I hope you find interest in my projects.

I graduated in 2022 from Alma College with a BA in Elementary Education and Language Arts. During my time at Alma, I had the opportunity to learn more about the world of creative writing. Through classes and inspiring professors, I began to believe it to be possible to turn a dream of writing into a reality.

Most of my undergraduate writing was focused in poetry and short fiction. I had my work published in the campus publication: The Pine River Anthology. See the publications page for details on these publications.

After graduating, I had a short stint as a 2nd grade teacher which did not allow me much time, energy, or motivation to write. I soon found myself working for an arts non-profit called Art Reach of Mid Michigan. Under this role I had the opportunity to return to writing classes. I have spent the past year studying the art of fiction, and I have plans to pursue novel writing.

My current work in progress is a mystery novel titled What Happened to Monica Vaughn. This story follows a woman in her late twenties investigating the disappearance of her estranged childhood friend. This novel is inspired by The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and The Last Witness by Claire McFall. Stay tuned for updates!
